This past weekend, Derrick and I embarked on a journey up north to Acadia National Park with our Tiger Moth. Here is our trip!
Campground
Acadia Seashore Camping & Cabins This campground was awesome! The owners were lovely and so friendly! The campground is right on the water about 50 minutes from Mt. Desert Island and only 20 minutes from Schoodic Point. Find out what we had in our camper HERE.
Itinerary
Friday – Drive Up
On Friday after school, we drove up to the campground and arrived around 8 pm. We set up the camper and went to bed.
Saturday – Mt. Dessert Island & Bar Harbor
Saturday we woke up and made breakfast in our camper. Afterward, we headed to Mt. Desert Island where we drove the park loop stopping along the way to see various lookout points. We hiked the Great Head trail and it was beautiful! (pictured to the right) Next, we drove over to Bar Harbor we walked around this quaint town and ate dinner at Paddy’s Irish Bar. The food was average pub food. That night we experienced a crazy storm with high winds, thunder, and lightning.
Sunday – Hiked Cadillac, Bass Harbor Lighthouse & Schoodic Penisula
On Sunday morning, we drove over to Mt. Desert Island to hike Cadillac Mountain via the Gorge Trail. The views were spectacular but very windy! Then we drove over to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse which was a lovely small lighthouse on a cliff. Then we drove to the Schoodic Penisula where we got to watch the sunset. At night we returned to our campsite, cooked dinner and had a fire.
Monday – Drove Home
Monday morning we woke up bright and early to hopefully miss as much traffic as possible and we stopped in L.L. Bean in Freeport, ME so a leg stretch & some coffee. Overall this trip was amazing and I suck at blog posts but if you have any questions about our trip, let me know, I’d love to help!
