About Me

Hi! My name is Carissa and I love going on Adventures! My week starts by teaching in the classroom or house parenting and ends with adventures. I live for the weekends in the mountains with no care in the world except where my feet are taking me! I love hiking, snowboarding, and have begun dabbling in surfing, wakeboarding, mountain biking and more!

I grew up on Long Island but somehow find myself living in Massachusetts. I like to think I was born to live in New England but also found a home in Scotland, where I studied abroad in college.

When I’m not teaching, coaching, or hiking, I can be found exploring new places, domestically and abroad. I have a map of the countries, I’ve been to, and feel I haven’t been to many so my goal is to see more and do more. The photo to the right was taken on my last abroad trip in August 2019 when I skydived in Interlaken, Switzerland. Maybe one of the best days of my life!

After postponing our wedding in 2020, My husband, Derrick, and I bought a Taxa Tiger Moth. It has been perfect for all our adventure in New England and beyond! We even road tripped to Las Vegas one break!

Then in August 2022, My husband and I adopted a 10-week-old Samoyed pup to take on all our adventures!

I have been a math teacher for 7 years at a school for students with Language Based Learning Differences. So I’ve also started sharing some of my teaching journey and math resources I’ve created.

Fun Fact:

In 2018, My husband and I started a shave ice food truck. This business has been in our family for over 30 years and it was time to take it mobile!
